End of the year is looming and what a year it's been !!
The highlights were the arrival of young Tama in May - a 7wk bundle of energy that traveled the length of the country in the back of a Hilux ute, to get to us. The ute backed down our drive early in the morning and Tama was extracted from the squirming mass of puppies, to be presented to his new owners. He has developed into a wonderful character, showing aspects of both his parents - his sire is a beautiful purebred Hungarian Vizsla who hunts deer and the dam is a mainstay working collie, from a Dunedin mixed stock enterprise. I am looking forward to see how he develops, hopefully into another exceptional search dog like Bryn!The weekend he got delivered, Bryn and I were away in Christchurch sitting our Operational Assessment test, which he nailed beautifully i'm proud to say, so we are now ready for any future deployments.
USAR training is finally over for 2018 and the boys are looking forward to lots of runs in the forest and out at our 'happy' place - Sunset Beach in Port Waikato. We train every weekend, travel the country for Regional exercises as well as multiple flights to Christchurch, for intensive training sessions. The dogs do really well and thrive on the constant activity - a good SAR dog has an obsessive personality and are 'right out there', but that's what makes them so special. Without this strong drive they couldn't achieve what they do.
November saw our first inclusion as a member of the K9 component of the NZUSAR Task Force, at a nation wide exercise held in Hokitika. This was a simulated Alpine fault earthquake senario which was attended by teams from Northern, Central and Southern regions. Amazing experience and all the dogs involved were exceptional and excelled at all that was asked of them.

Another exciting development that has just happened, is our dealership proposal we put to Ruffwear, in the US recently, has been successful.
This means we will now be able to offer these quality K9 products from in store and also online orders, through our website. For those of you with dogs, who aren't familiar with this brand - you are in for a very, very pleasant surprise !!
